No se vaya del hospital sin la vacuna (Don’t Leave the Hospital Without It)

La hepatitis B es una enfermedad grave del hígado que puede producir problemas de salud de por vida o la muerte prematura. Los bebés pueden adquirir la hepatitis B de sus madres infectadas o de otros contactos cercanos. Hasta el 90 por ciento de los bebés que contraen hepatitis B permanecen infectados y uno de cada cuatro morirá de manera prematura por enfermedad hepática o cáncer del hígado. En el 2005, los CDC recomendaron que todos los recién nacidos sean vacunados contra la hepatitis B antes de salir del hospital para prevenir infecciones. No obstante, una encuesta reciente de los CDC encontró que solo la mitad de los recién nacidos son vacunados antes de ser dados de alta del hospital. Antes de salir del hospital y llevarse a su bebé a casa, asegúrese de lo ha vacunado contra la hepatitis B.
